03.08.2001

This week British Airways, one of the leading world-wide air carriers, has signed the agreement with Latvian e-solutions provider Vide Infra Grupa for development of Trade Extranet business-to-business Internet solution for 16 Eastern European and Eastern Mediterranean countries.

The goal of the solution is providing business-critical variable information about British Airways services and offers to all interested parties who approach travel agencies. The new Extranet system will simplify the exchange of information between the agency and BA as well as offer wide spectrum of new choices for potential BA clients.

Travel agencies will be able to obtain information about the British Airways, its new services and special offers by means of the system. In the same manner the private persons, who with a help of the agents plan their flights, will be able to find all necessary information in a speedy and convenient way.

The project has started after the survey conducted by British Airways among its travel agent partners, which resulted in the fact that about 70% of the agents would like to communicate business critical information electronically. Taking into account the global experience the airfreight company decided to build up the system in the Baltic states too. Leading Latvian e-solutions provider Vide Infra Grupa was chosen to implement the solution.

In two months period the brand new system was up and running. It was built on the basis of website construction and content management platform SiteSupra âÀ“ proprietary technology developed by Vide Infra Grupa. The solution was successful âÀ“ flexible and easy to use. In April the system was deployed in all Baltic countries: Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, gaining high recognition and acclaim. In a very short period of time the head offices of British Airways became interested in the system. After approving the quality of the solutions as well as the platform it was built on âÀ“ SiteSupra technology âÀ“ the eBA division of British Airways (the one responsible for electronic communications and commerce) decided to choose the system for developing the Trade Extranet in Eastern Europe and Eastern Mediterranean region.

This week the parties signed the agreement to build up the system, which will serve the following countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Yugoslavia, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Cyprus, Russia, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine.
